Features Description How do you easily check and prevent the admission of under-age individuals to nightclubs and age restricted entertainment and keep customers and employees smiling? This unit can help with both issues. The InData Systems Mobile Age Checker system is a simple-to-use, hand held unit that include and easy-to-view PDA (Personal Digital Assitant) with a PDF (and optional mag. stripe) reader and a quick change rechargeable battery interface. The scanner can quickly read a driver's license and display whether the person is over 21 (or your specific age threshhold). It also can display the encoded information to compare to the front of the license to help assess if the license is forged. Wireless interface (802.11b) allows the linking to local servers for mail list and/or log of ""due diligence"" efforts. A link to a police interface could allow checking for outstanding warrants or other critical information. With a simple insertion of the customer's driver's license, the display responds instantly with an OK or denial of admission/purchase of typical age-restricted products - tobacco or alcohol. Denying customers a purchase or admission is always challenging, but you need to comply with the law. Cashiers say that it is often easier to tell the customer that the system - rather than the cashier/attendant - has denied the sale or admission. The InData Systems Mobile Age Checker System performs the age calculation locally - no phone line or external computer interface is required. Both visual and audio feedback may be provided. The InData Mobile Age Checker is an innovated design that allows the use of commonly available, lithium-ion rechargeable batteries (spare battery and external charger are included) that recharge the PDA while you use it, in addition to running the scanner section. The driver's license scanner section can include a magnetic stripe reader in addition to the PDF-417 bar code reader to allow scanning of licenses from states that still use that technology and membership or credit cards for custom applications. The display section is a Pocket PC based unit that allows easy programming for custom applications and wireless networking interfaces. The AAMVA (American Association of Moster Vehicles Administrators) is a group that has set standards that most states follow for their driver's license design and formats. PDF-417 is a 2 Dimensional barcode that is able to encode a large amount of data including the license holders address and date of birth among other things.
