  • Description

How do you help prevent the sale of age-restricted items to minors, and keep customers and cashiers smiling? This unit can help on both counts.

The Verifone Ruby terminal is fast, accurate, and very easy to use. The InData Systems 4410-Verifone scanner sits on the sales counter in open view of the customer and allows Point-of-sale transaction scanning AND 2D bar coded driver license scanning. With a simple scan of the customer's driver's license or manual input of the birth date, the terminal responds instantly with an OK or denial of purchase of typical age-restricted products - tobacco or alcohol. Denying customers a purchase is always challenging, but you need to comply with the law. Cashiers say that it is often easier to tell the customer that the system - rather than the cashier - has denied the sale. For cashiers it means less stress but with full compliance of the laws. Customers also appreciate that C-Store marketers care enough to prevent underage purchases.

The Ruby SuperSystem and the stand-alone Easy-ID terminal performs the age calculation locally - no phone line required. Both visual and audio feedback is provided. It is also ideal for tobacco stores, dining establishments, and anywhere age-restricted items are sold.

Owners like the compliance aspect. Cashiers like the speed and convenience. Everyone likes how it is part of a comprehensive compliance and awareness program that helps keep operations running smoothly.

The 4410-Verifone product has all the features of the standard 4410 from Welch Allyn but has the InData Systems interface and configurations to be able to tie into the Verifone Ruby Point of Sale Terminal. InData's version of this product is the only one that is "Ruby Certified". Using the ""Easy-ID"" software in the Ruby Terminal allows Convenience Stores to accurately verify a customer's age to confirm that they are old enough to buy cigarettes and beer and other age restricted products. It also serves as the scanner to read the UPC codes for Point of sale transactions. The use of the Hands-free stand allows easy one-handed scanning of both products and Driver's Licenses that have the PDF-417 Barcode on the back or front.

The AAMVA (American Association of Motor Vehicles Administrators) is a group that has set standards that most states follow for their driver's license design and formats. PDF-417 is a 2 Dimensional barcode that is able to encode a large amount of data including the license holders address and date of birth among other things.
